Principal's Message

Stiles Elementary students, parents, and guardians - fall has arrived. We are one month into our school year, and I am proud of the work the staff has been doing with your students. From classroom learning, to recess games, and building relationships with new staff, the school year has started out in such a positive way.

Our goal every day is to have all students in school on time ready to learn. As we approach October, I encourage you to set up an evening and morning routine to set your student up for success. Regular bedtime and wake-up time can make a difference when your student comes to Stiles each day.

For many of our students, the bus is the means of transportation to get to and from school each day. I sent out a video earlier this school year. but I still need your help. I need you to talk with your student about being safe on the bus and listening to the bus driver. I want all students to be able to come to school ready to learn. Things to reinforce with your student: staying in your seat, hands to yourself, and listening to the bus driver. Thank you in advance for partnering with us to keep our buses safe.

Our PTA is also looking to grow this school year. If you are interested in becoming part of the PTA, please contact the school secretary Kelly Gwyn more commonly known as Miss Kelly. Our PTA impacts our students and teachers; and, the more activity we have from our parent/guardian stakeholders, the better we can enrich the school day for all stakeholders.

Coming soon as well is the OST Grade 3 reading assessment. If your student is in third grade when testing is set to begin, going to bed early and getting up and making sure to eat breakfast will truly set up your student for success with the state testing.

Lastly, the most important partnership that can bring success for your student is that between the parent and the teacher. That begins with parent-teacher conferences in October. Reach out to your student’s teacher and make sure you can come in and sit down and work collaboratively to help your student be successful.

Stiles Elementary is a special place, and we have a great staff and wonderful students. We want all of our students to grow and reach their full potential and chase their dreams. We truly care about our students and look forward to every day we get to spend with them exploring all that they are learning.

Thank you and have a great school year.
